Mind Your Own Business

One evening, Dwight Moody noticed a man leaning against a lamppost and asked him if he was a Christian. The man snorted back, "Mind your own business!" Moody responded, "I'm sorry if I've offended you, but this is my business."

Is sharing your faith your business?

The other day I met with a man who was doing a background search on one of our alumni for a security clearance. Eventually, he got around to asking me the questions he needed to ask to fulfill his duty, but before he did, he spent 15 minutes or so talking about a ministry he's involved in that teaches the Biblical principles of money management. After he noticed the time he said, "I'm sorry to take up so much of your time talking about these things, but my job is my pulpit and I love to talk about Jesus."

I didn't mind the conversation at all. I only hope he talks about the things of the Lord when he isn't in a Pastor's office. I love his attitude, "my job is my pulpit." This investigator, like Moody understood that sharing his faith is his business.

Is sharing your faith your business?

The other day I had dinner with a couple of my friends. When the waitress finished taking our order, Fermin said to her, "when our food comes, we are going to pray before we eat, do you have a need we can include in our prayer?" Of course, she had a need  don't we all? And we prayed for her need before we ate.

Is sharing your faith your business?

I could easily argue from scripture that it is all of our business.

"And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ; ''All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. [19] Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'" (Matthew 28:18-20 NASB)
